The Arabian Sea!

I can't believe we made it! After a very exciting day, we drove to the Arabian Sea! The water was warm, but quite dirty. The tan sand had streaks of dark stripes that changed each time the waves crashed in. It was beautiful to observe from a distance, but strange to look down and not be able to see my feet as I stood in ankle-deep water.
The beach area itself had broken bottles and glass shards littered on the walking paths and it was interesting that nobody on the shore had any type of bathing suit on. Ladies wore saris as they followed their splashing children in the waves and kids wore shorts and t-shirts.
After "seeing the sea," we went to a very modern shopping mall--one that could be found in any city in America--and had dinner at a lovely restaurant. Two other teachers and their families joined us on the two hour drive and it was wonderful to be included with this large group. I know I've said it multiple times, but the people that we've met in India are the kindest, most welcoming group!
